How terribly unfortunate. It sounded almost identical to how my wife's adventure began when she was meeting her first guy for the first meet. We went shopping a couple days before. Went to where they were going to meet the next day. I groomed and prepped her, etc. According to things I read on this site I did warn her that a lot of guys were flakes and he might not have shown up. I warned her both on this date and the day they were actually going to meet in the hotel. So she was expecting that he might not have shown. But, I'm not sure she would have handled it very well if her first guy was indeed a flake like that. Guys like this are a mindfuck, and I'm sorry she went through that. I don't know why those guys exist or what they get out of it, let alone how there are so many of them. She should just cut ties, because guys like this aren't that uncommon. And they might seem persistent and sincere on text or email, but this is the interaction they are after, he'll never actually show up for real. This communication is all he wants.

Thanks for the thoughts Pufferfish. It took me a bit to digest this whole thing, and come to grips with the fact that everyone lives a different life. I am being extremely picky (as is my right, lol) and am looking for a respectful person. As a result, I may have been a bit too forward with this one. After we met, I suggested the date. It may have needed a gentler touch. I found myself being concerned about the etiquette. He needed only text, or call, or SOMETHING! I was extremely hurt and disappointed, but once I had some distance, I also looked at the other side of this coin. He has a life, and had business to attend to. I cannot excuse his lack of common courtesy, but can definitely understand how other priorities can get in the way. I will continue to look, and the jury is still out as to whether he gets another chance. In the mean time--I am NOT out of the game!
