Damn, I remember back when Stick Slayer was new, it's bizarre to get news like this.

Why not commemorate the front page to Ben? Sort of like a Madness day or a Pico Day?

Response to Ben Spurgin, 1977-2009 Oct 23, 2009

Now dont get offended at this but what if this is a hoax? And he comes back on halloween with stickslayer IX? I dont know how news of his death got out, wheather it was in the news or what so dont be offended by this thought. Just saying though, could be true.

Its time to play games and jerk off. And Im all out of quarters.

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Never heard of him before now, he has some pretty nice flash.

Haha, I was about to post that.
You should make a sad face of yourself for the front page, and check what emoticon the thread uses, and if it's a sad one, it'll be replaced by sad Tom.

I've never heard of him before. After watching some of his Flash, I am now very sad to have him gone.

R.I.P.

He will be remembered forever by family, friends, newgrounders alike, with his brilliant Flash submissions to Newgrounds that will be cherished by everyone.

Tom has made it so we can have artist's freely post flash submissions for free here on Newgrounds, and Ben has contributed greatly to making Newgrounds that much better of a site.

His great additions to the Newgrounds site will be missed from everyone here on Newgrounds.

A Fresh start. 10/24/09

@ Stamper: The characters should be like statues to remember them by.

Yep, we will miss him.... I bet people like the 'hopeless(mindless bastards not to be confused with the homeless)' are capable of doing that kind of damage.

Unfortunately? I think it's a great idea and it should be made as soon as possible! As for Ben, I already heard the news but his untimely death will be remembered.

Stamper's post: dark but true. He took his choice when he started on drugs.

R.I.P too soon, he was a great animator and his flash (among others) were what influenced me to get into flash in the first place.

Stick Slayer was actually one of the early flash series I've seen on newgrounds, back before I realized I could be a member (for free)
I still remember back when you had the theme music play on the collection page

thats a real shame.

I may have only been a member since 2005, but I've browsed on NG since 2002 (or 3)
I shall watch his series later tonight as a little tribute. If I have time, I'll shoot you a pm to join the collab, I'm just dealing with alot of homework right now, but would like to show that I was a fan of his work as well

Yes.
Just YES.

Strangest thing, I was just thinking of whether or not to reply to this topic, seeing as I never really knew the guy or his work and thought it would only be strange to give out my condolences to someone I don't know. Hypocritical in a way. Then I checked out his profile and he has a bunch of medals from one of my games. Strange as it may sound it actually kind of shocked me as it creates some kind of connection with him... Anyway, dying at such a young age is never a good thing, and I hope his family find all the strength and support they need.

I heard it was from a heroin overdose, on his Mom's page. The link's in the post.

Today, I bit my girlfriend's neck. I felt something squirt into my mouth. Turns out I had just popped a pimple on her neck. Into my mouth. FML
